DESCRIPTION
A magnificent seven-piece sterling silver tea and coffee service by the celebrated Sheffield silversmith Edward Viner, dating to circa 1935–1936 and bearing full English hallmarks throughout. The suite comprises a kettle on stand with original spirit burner, a teapot, a coffee pot, a covered sugar bowl, a cream jug, an open sugar bowl, and a waste bowl — all executed in a graceful faceted Art Deco form with ebonized wood handles and finials. Each piece displays the characteristic paneled body construction and elegant claw feet that define Viner's finest domestic silverware of the interwar period. This is an exceptionally complete and cohesive service, rarely found intact with the highly desirable kettle on stand and its original burner.
CONDITION REPORT
The sterling silver (.925) surfaces present with a bright, well-maintained polish consistent with careful storage and periodic cleaning. Ebonized wood handles and finials are intact and structurally sound across all pieces, with minor age-appropriate patination. The spirit burner for the kettle stand is present and appears functional; no visible dents, repairs, solder lines, or monogram removal noted in available images.
